The Coastguard Station

Holiday Cottage on the Ring of Kerry, Ireland

This newly-renovated holiday house is part of the old coastguard station at Kells Bay in South Kerry, Ireland. It's located beside a beautiful blue-flag sandy beach. The coastguard station was originally four cottages, and the South-Eastern end of it has now been renovated into a lovely holiday cottage.

Kells Bay opens into Dingle Bay below the house.

Kells coastguard station has a long and exciting history. Many Dingle Bay sea rescues embarked from its boat house. The station was briefly captured by the Fenians in the disastrous rebellion of 1867. Kells was abandoned by the coastguards in the beginning of the twentieth century and the house has been a private residence since.

The cottage was renovated and extended in 2004 and it's in pristine condition. There are three bedrooms, one master bedroom and two en-suite. There's a bathroom - complete with whirlpool bath - a kitchen and a living room. Outside is a patio for those long summer evenings.

Kells Bay is one of the most beautiful and peaceful holiday locations in Kerry. A range of activities such as golf and horse-riding are a short drive away. Or just bring your bucket and spade and head for the beach!
